Inclusive education for children living
with disabilities in Nigeria was the main focus of the two days workshop
organized by Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAPWD
organised for Kwara State Technical Team on inclusive education, ATT held in llorin.
In her key note address the National
President, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Ms. Ekaete Umoh
advocated the right of disabled people to contribute their quota for the
development of the country.
Ms. Umoh however called for change in
perception of the general public towards children with disabilities and called
on government at all levels to include their needs in the annual budget.
Ms. Umoh who admitted the fact file of
UNICEF, noted that about ninety-five percent of children with disabilities in
developing countries are out of school and ninety percent of them may likely
not get access to basic education if care and attention is not taken. Read more
