The Minister made the commendation in Cannes, France, where he is at the head of the Nigerian delegation to the ongoing 2017 MIPTV, the forum for TV and online content producers in the world.

He said he was impressed with the presence of such Nigerian content producers as Iroko, Aforevo and Consolidated Media Associates Limited, owners of Soundcity and ontv, SpiceTV, Access24 and on MAX, at the global forum, hence his decision to personally visit their stands to encourage and support them.

On the importance of the forum, Alhaji Mohammed described MIPTV as ‘’a shopping mall for content and formats for channels,’’ adding: ‘’The idea of this MIPTV is to create a forum for the media and the entertainment world, especially television and films, to meet other stakeholders including content producers and channel owners in an attempt to further deepen the industry.’’

The Minister said his delegation, which include the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information, Senator Sulaiman Adokwe, and Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mr. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, will leverage on their attendance of the forum to enrich the digitization of television broadcasting in Nigeria.

As part of his activities at the forum yesterday, the Minister was taken on a guided tour of the sprawling venue of the MIPTV, during which he visited the stands of notable Nigerian content producers such as Iroko and Aforevo, as well as those of Bollywood and Zee World.

Earlier on Tuesday, at a dinner hosted by the NBC for members of the Nigerian delegation, the Minister called for self-regulation by Nigerian content producers. He said they should appreciate the fact that films are not just to entertain but also to educate, hence the need for them to get ‘’wholesome products’’.

EBENEZER OBEY AT 75: OGUN TO ESTABLISH MUSEUM FOR HIS WORKS

T
he Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday announced his administration’s plan to build a museum in honor of Evangelist Ebenezer Obey, a music maestro known for his Juju music genre.

Amosun announced this at the interdenominational church service held at the Chapel of Christ The Glorious King, inside the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta marking the 75th birthday of the music icon.

The state governor noted that the Obey-Fabiyi’s music taught totality of life and it has moved beyond Nigeria to the entire global community. He said when he travelled to the United States of America, he saw the works of the Ogun State-born music displayed in a shop in New York.

Amosun said he never failed to listen to his music every morning before setting out for the office, because there was always a prayer or a philosophy, which could serve as driving force for the day.

He said, “All I see in him at 75 is the awesomeness of God in his life.

“There is always something to learn from your music. I play Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi’s music every morning (he also rendered some of the musician’s lines).

“Your music teaches the totality of life, it teaches essence of life and living. Your music has moved beyond Nigeria to the global community. “We will establish a museum where all your works will be kept for generations yet unborn to know about you and other legends from the state.”

I USE HIS MUSIC AS SLEEPING PILL – OBASANJO

Also, at the event, former President Olusegun Obasanjo described the Juju and gospel music maestro, Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi as “a musician of international repute, a revered evangelist and businessman of note.”

Obasanjo said whenever he was finding it difficult to sleep or while doing a serious work, he would have Obey-Fabiyi music playing slowly at the background.
He spoke at the reception held inside the marquee located in the Presidential Library, Abeokuta, after the thanksgiving service.
The former President also noted that the musician in his over three decades on the Nigerian performing stage had taken Nigerian music to the global platform.

He said the music legend has maintained decorum and decency in his conduct and content as an artiste and musician adding that he has elevated God through his music and impacted positively on the society.

He said, “His life on one hand depicts the grace of God and on the other hand, it teaches determination, hard work and perseverance.

“One of the important lessons to be learnt from his life is that there is no height a man cannot attain once he is focused.

“His life as taught the lesson that irrespective of one’s background, one can get to the pinnacle of one’s chosen career.”

He commended Obey-Fabiyi for his initiative to give back to the society through Ebenezer Obey Music Foundation and Training Institute, which he inaugurated at the reception.

Orjiakor , also refered to as Nollywood Queen of Boobs, wrote: “My cats, Buhari and Goodluck, (are) discussing the Nigerian economy (and) dollar rate.”

This is coming at a time when a man identified as Joachim Iroko, is facing trial for naming his dog “Buhari.”
But the popular actress, who expressed her readiness to be arrested for a similar conduct, gave some qualities the arresting officer must possess.

She wrote: “All I want is a good-looking sexy police officer with Donald Duke’s (former governor of Cross River) face; Uti Nwachukwu’s eyes; PSquare’s chest and D’Banj’s ‘no long thing.’ He should come with sexy handcuffs.

“And he (the policeman) should have an English accent like Jim Iyke.

All I want is a super-handsome police officer with six-packs and stamina to arrest me this morning (Saturday) and take me to Aso Rock prison; and serve me Aso Rock food because ‘Mummy Victor Market’ is too expensive these days.

“If it is a policewoman, then she must have fat, soft buttocks and big tits. I must be high on some cheap stuff this morning.” Read more

“The nation’s currencies are part of our national symbols and it is regrettable that they are grossly abused in a myriad of obnoxious ways.

POSERS SURROUNDING FUNKE AKINDELE’S ALLEGED SECOND MARRIAGE

Sunday, August 28, 2016

F
or  the past months rumours have been rife that ace Nollywood actress, aka Jenifa, Funke Akindele and singer and producer, Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz are onto something in the romantic lane.

Just when it seemed it was panning out, another one took to flight, only this time,it is a rumour that may have got out of hand. “JJC and Funke Akindele have wedded in UK”, is the song being sung everywhere. funke-akindele-2015-11Reports have it that the alleged lovebirds wedded on the Thespian’s birthday which was Thursday in the UK with no family members in attendance. Though a couple of the singer’s family members, including his daughter were said to have been there with only Funke’s sister standing in as family for her.

It was reported that Funke Akindele’s family and particularly her mother were strongly against her marriage to JJC, who, they believe has same profile as that of Funke’s first husband, Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede. Funke Akindele’s first husband, Alhaji Almaroof has several children from 3 – 4 women, just like her supposed current husband who is said to have three children from three women. There have been no confirmation from any quarters yet that the couple are truly married.

Mr. Biodun Kupoluyi, publisher of E-24/7, who is Funke Akindele’s publicist when reached on phone told Potpourri he has no knowledge of the alleged marriage, saying “when it is the right time, we will reach out to the media”. It is actually confounding to many that an occasion as precious and important as marriage could be kept in such absolute secrecy.

Neither of the couple, has said anything or posted any picture on social media to express their joy of the union. The only thing posted by Funke was a birthday ‘thank you’ note she sent out to her fans. For JJC, there was a post on Instagram that could or could not be giving a hint to the wedding having taken place. Read more

AT LAST, MAJEK FASHEK RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE
Friday, August 26th, 2016

Reggae star, Majek Fashek, is in the news again. This time, the musician’s numerous fans, especially in Nigeria, are excited that he has finally released the product of his much-publicised collabo with equally gifted singer, Tuface Idibia.

The single, which is available on the Internet, is a remix of Majek’s wave-making song titled, No more sorrow from his 1991 album, Spirit of love. Many music fans of the older generation are, no doubt, familiar with the song, which appeared to rock the music scene and of course, the radio waves almost ceaselessly in the 1990s.

For most fans of the reggae musician, who has had a long running battle with drug and alcohol addiction, the recent remix of No more sorrow signals Majek’s triumph over the forces that have delayed the progress of his career for more than a decade. It also announces his final return to the music scene, 10 months after he emerged from a rehab home in Abuja.

But it appears that the new song was released without the input of the musician’s benefactor, Chief Ayiri Emami, who single-handedly took responsibility for payment of Majek’s bills at the rehab home. Tuface Idibia’s manager, Efe Omorogbe, confirmed this, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday.

Omorogbe noted that plans for Majek’s collabo with Tuface had already been concluded before the reggae star met and struck up a relationship with the Warri-based billionaire.  Also, he said that the remix of No more sorrow was released on Majek’s own records label. He said, “This collaboration was finalised a little earlier, before the relationship between Majek and Chief Ayiri Emami. The song is an independent release by Majek Fashek and supported by GistMe Communications.”

After their relationship broke up, Majek Fashek was said to have relocated to England. Even as the news of his latest album release spread on Wednesday, reports claimed that he had been spotted in London.
